Cleaning

Stain Removal

Oriental rugs and other fine area rugs are often constructed with wool or silk fibers and can therefore present significant stain removal challenges. Heirloom’s stain removal experts have many years experience and will do their very best to remove stains without damaging fibers or dyes. In addition, rug fringe responds outstandingly well to our cleaning process and will look great after cleaning!

Soil and Stain Protection

We highly recommend protecting fine wool rugs with DuPont Teflon Advanced for Wool. This protector offers excellent protection against abrasive dry soils that can wear out your rug prematurely. This protector also offers excellent protection against difficult to remove oily soils and water based spills will bead up for easy removal.

Heirloom also recommends a special protector designed for silk rugs, which are highly sensitive to water spotting as well as other spills and dry soils.

For all rugs exposed to direct sunlight we also offer rug protectors with UV protection.

Pet Odors and Stain Removal

Our rug cleaning process is perfect for the total removal of pet odors caused by pet urine as well as animal hair and body oils. Heirloom applies a special product to affected areas that contains extracts from plants such as cactus, coconuts, corn, grain, grass, potatoes, rice, soy, trees, and minute amounts of natural or nonionic surfactants and pure water.

This unique treatment breaks down the pet oils and the urine salts and odor causing bacteria that feed on them, neutralizing the odor. Our total immersion cleaning process then flushes these contaminants from the rug for complete odor removal.

Often, stains caused by pet urine are removed in the above process. However, on older, untreated pet urine contamination, yellow or brownish stains may remain. Our stain removal experts can often remove these as long as the dye itself has not been damaged.

Repair

We are happy to provide expert rug repair on a wide variety of damage including water, fire, insects, animals, and exposure to sun and ultraviolet rays using techniques and materials that preserve the value and look of your rug.
